The Spanish Biophysical Society (SBE) recognizes that animal models continue to play an important role in advancing our understanding of biological processes and in the development of new strategies for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease, whenever no suitable alternative methods are available.

The Society is committed to promoting the responsible, ethical and transparent use of animals in scientific research, in full compliance with applicable national and European legislation and with the principles of Replacement, Reduction and Refinement (the 3Rs).

As part of this commitment, the Spanish Biophysical Society has adopted the COSCE Agreement on Transparency in Animal Research and supports its principles of openness and public engagement. The Society will promote awareness among its members and the wider public by sharing reliable information and educational resources through its website, newsletters and social media channels, including relevant materials and initiatives developed by COSCE and other scientific organizations.
