We sadly recall the passing in early March of Prof. R. L. «Buzz» Baldwin (1927-2021). Prof. Baldwin, a biophysicist at Stanford University, made seminal contributions to the understanding of protein folding, in particular the characterization of H/D exchange folding intermediates monitored by NMR spectroscopy and the demonstration that short peptides can form alpha helices. A more extensive description of his life and contributions will be released in a future issue of our Magazine Biofísica.
